Most of the sites I build land between $500 and $800. That covers a real site with separate pages, designed around your books, your music, your art, or your mission, and it stays yours with no monthly platform fee. If you only need to be findable for now, a starter site or a couple of basic pages is $200 and you can grow it later.

The agency alternativeAgencies charge $4,000–$10,000 for a comparable build, plus ~$1,200/year in maintenance fees. Then they're gone and you're paying someone new every time a button breaks. My biggest builds top out around $2,000 — archive migrations, newsletters, self-updating pages and all.
